Millheim’s annual summer music festival featuring local food, drink and art returns this weekend, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Visitors to what was previously known as Walkfest can expect a few changes for this year’s event. The event has been rebranded as Millheim SummerFest and will focus on what makes Millheim a great destination, including a vibrant music scene and homegrown food, wine and beer in a scenic valley.

The fun will be on tap at Pisano Winery, Elk Creekside Bandstand at Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks and the Millheim Hotel. Admission and parking are free.

“We are excited to have a community-wide music fest rolling again in Millheim,” Tim Bowser, proprietor of Elk Creek Cafe+Aleworks, said in a news release. “We have some great musical talent in Penns Valley and we are honored to have played a role in that development.”

Andy Pisano, owner of Pisano Winery, is also looking forward to SummerFest.

“This is the biggest event of the year for the winery,” Pisano said. “We are going to have music all weekend with a great lineup of vendors. We are really happy to have landed here in Millheim, we get a lot of support from the community.”

SummerFest will also include local artisans who will be selling crafts at the three festival locations.

Elsewhere, the East Penns Library will be holding its annual summer book sale at the Millheim Fire Hall during SummerFest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The LION Mobile Clinic will also be at SummerFest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m on Saturday at the Fire Hall Grounds. In addition to providing first aid, they will be offering blood pressure screening, medication counseling and other services free of charge. Appointments or health insurance are not required.

SummerFest is coordinated by the Valley Community Business Alliance (VCBA) with support from the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and the Centre County Commissioners, and officially kicks off the Route 45 Getaways event that encourages visitors to explore sights, sounds and tastes of businesses along Route 45.F
