The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra embarks on a new era with the selection of a new music director, Maestro Gerardo Edelstein. This year will mark conductor Edelstein’s first season as music director/conductor of the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra.
A native of Argentina, Edelstein has extensive experience conducting symphony orchestras, choirs and ballet and opera productions in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States. In addition, he is director of orchestral studies at Penn State, music director of the university’s Philharmonic and Chamber orchestras and music director of the Penn’s Woods Music.
The first concert of the season will feature three composers from Scandinavia and is titled “The Northern Lights.” It will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Penn State Recital Hall, followed by a reception just outside the Recital Hall.
