Now in its 19th year, the Patton Township Children’s Safety Fair will offer a day of fun for kids and families on Saturday.
The fair takes places 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Target parking lot at the Colonnade. Admission is free.
“The goal of the event is to provide children with an opportunity to develop positive relationships with our community’s police, fire fighters and emergency medical services personnel,” according to a news release.
Organized by the Patton Township Police Department and the Patton Township Business Association, the event will feature games, prizes, balloons and giveaways.
Highlights include bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, farm hopper animal maze, workshop activities from Home Depot and Lowe’s and a chance to explore heavy equipment with Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc.
Kids can enjoy “Fun with Police Vehicles,” courtesy of Bellefonte, Spring Township, Penn State and State College police departments and Pennsylvania State Police.
Alpha Fire Company will offer ladder truck rides and Boalsburg Fire Company will have junior firefighter activities. Centre Region Code Administration will have fire safety house and conduct burn trailer demos.
The Centre County Sheriff’s Office will bring its radio-controlled robotic car and Centre LifeLink EMS and Centre County 911 also will be on hand.
Patton Township police will provide kid fingerprinting and with Ferguson Township police will offer child safety seat inspections.
Face painting, game booths and prizes from eight local businesses and organizations and a pinewood derby are on the schedule as well.
Multiple food trucks will be on site, including Beech Hollow BBQ, Bonnie Blue’s, Brazilian Munchies, Happy Dishes and Sunset Slush Happy Valley.
