The Penns Valley Conservation Association will hold a fundraising event featuring local author, whiskey writer and podcaster Lew Bryson from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Brush Mountain Lodge in Spring MIlls.
The event will include a presentation and book signing tied to Bryson’s new release, “American Whiskey Master Class: The Ultimate Guide to Understanding Bourbon, Rye, and Other American Whiskeys. “
According to his author bio, Bryson has covered beer and spirits since 1995 and spent nearly two decades as managing editor of Whisky Advocate, an American whiskey magazine. He published his first book, “Tasting Whiskey,” in October 2014, and has since written six books drawing on more than 20 years of reporting on producers, ingredients and production methods.
The event, which doubles as a fundraiser benefiting PVCA’s conservation and education programs, offers community members “a chance to learn from a world-class expert on American whiskey while supporting the streams, forests, wildlife and farmland in Penns Valley,” according to a press release.
The nonprofit focuses on protecting the Upper Penns Creek watershed by providing environmental education, conservation efforts and community programs.
Attendees will be offered catered food and complimentary whiskey tastings. Spirits will be provided by Dad’s Hat, Liberty Pole and Stoll & Wolf. Tickets, starting at $100, include a signed copy of Bryson’s book.
A limited VIP session will be held from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and will feature a tasting of rare products from Bryson’s personal collection. Overnight accommodations at Brush Mountain Lodge are available.
Full ticket and event details, including VIP and lodge upgrade options, are available on the PVCA website.
