Schlow Library Hosting After-Hours Programs for Teens and Adults

Schlow Centre Region Library is celebrating the end of this year’s Summer Reading programs for adults and teens with a pair of upcoming after-hours events.

“Mystery in the Library,” a Jazz Age murder-mystery party, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Adult participants (over the age of 18) are invited register online, dress in their best 1920s costumes and bring their detective skills to solve the case.

“Nerf Olympics” is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 11. Teens in grades five through 12 can celebrate the completion of their summer reading goals with an evening of carnival fun. The night also will include pizza and an ice cream bar. Teen participants should register online, and a parent permission form will be sent in advance of the event.

Nearly 800 people registered for this year’s summer reading programs at Schlow Library, 211 S. Allen St. in State College. Participants in the programs which began June 1 and conclude in mid-August, set personalized reading goals and completed quests like book bingo, contributing to the creation of a community mural and a scavenger hunt.
