State College Area Roller Derby (SCAR) will have a spooky face-off with Frederick Roller Derby (FRD) on Saturday.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for the 5 p.m. first whistle at the C3 Sports Complex, 200 Ellis Place, State College. Tickets are $10 and children under the age of 10 will receive free admission. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
The match-up will be Halloween-themed. The halftime show will include a Halloween costume parade and fans are encouraged to wear their most creative and creepy costumes, with a special emphasis on Halloween-themed attire.
SCAR and FRD promise a fierce showdown between familiar opponents. FRD is led by former SCAR team member, Zombabe, who is returning with a vengeance to lead the opposition.
“We’re delighted to host this roller derby face-off between SCAR and FRD,” Elizabeth (Swifty) Kelly, coach and skater for SCAR, said in a press release. “Our athletes have been training for this clash, but Zombabe knows all of SCAR Derby’s tricks. As the saying goes, once you are a SCAR, you are SCARD for life.”
Tickets for the game are available for purchase online and at the door.
Following the match, the festivities will continue at the Axemann Brewery, where fans, skaters, and supporters can come together for a traditional roller derby after-party.
