A sweet summertime festival celebrated its 10th year in downtown State College on Saturday.
The State College Downtown Rotary’s Ice Cream Fest welcomed hundreds of people to the 200 block of South Allen Street for cold treats and family fun.
Eleven local and regional ice cream vendors offered up tastes, and proceeds from tickets purchased for samples go toward community grants provided by the club to local nonprofit organizations.
The fun didn’t stop at ice cream. Activities included a petting zoo, bounce house, face painting and sidewalk chalk. In addition to community organizations sharing information and resources and an appearance by Ike the Spike, interactive displays were provided by Alpha Fire Company, Discovery Space, Youth Service Bureau, Scouts Pack 31 and Troop 31, Doing Good with Wood, Jana Marie Foundation, Nittany Robotics.
The day also included other food options and an ice cream eating contest between high school football teams from State College, Bald Eagle, Bellefonte and Penns Valley.
