Centre County Adds 1 COVID-19 Case; Pennsylvania Reports 312 New Positives

Centre County reported one new COVID-19 case on Wednesday to bring its total 16,895, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 312 new positives, bringing the commonwealth’s total to 1,209,448.

Centre County has had 22 consecutive days with fewer than 10 new cases, while Pennsylvania has had 19 straight days with fewer than 1,000 new positives.

The county reported 61 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,280. Statewide, there were 6,260 new negatives for a total of 4,692,301.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating five COVID-19 inpatients between the ages of 35 and 87, unchanged from Tuesday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators, according to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard.

Pennsylvania has 465 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 27 since Tuesday, with 114 in intensive care [-15] and 80 on ventilators [-6].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 225.

With 17 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,531.

An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Wednesday morning, 73,694 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 11,085 are partially covered.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 57.8% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated while 73.7% have received their first dose. 

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
