Centre County Adds 11 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,823 New Positives

Centre County reported 11 new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 16,747, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 1,823 new positives for a statewide total of 1,193,355.

The county also had 73 negative test results to increase its total to 69,452. Across Pennsylvania, there were 10,422 new negatives for a total of 4,548,782.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 222.

With 25 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,990.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 14 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,250 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 59 since Thursday, with 304 in intensive care [-6] and 187 on ventilators [-7].

An estimated 93% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Friday morning, 65,529 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 14,782 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,265 are confirmed and 1,482 are probable. Statewide, 1,001,346 are confirmed and 192,009 are probable.
