Centre County reported 14 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 16,761, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 1,658 new positives for a statewide total of 1,195,013.
The county also had 104 negative test results to increase its total to 69,556. Across Pennsylvania, there were 8,719 new negatives for a total of 4,557,501.
Centre County’s positivity rate declined for the seventh straight week. For the week of May 14-20, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 3.7%, down from 5.5% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. The rate is tied for 11th lowest among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 4.5%, down from 5.3% the previous week and marking a decline for the fifth consecutive week.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 222.
With 39 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,029.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 17 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, an increase of three since Friday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.
Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,198 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 52 since Friday, with 291 in intensive care [-13] and 181 on ventilators [-6].
An estimated 93% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
As of Saturday morning, 65,794 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 14,625 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.
