Centre County reported 28 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to increase its total to 17,516, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 3,333 new positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,284,532.
The county also reported 71 negative test results for a total of 74,957. Statewide, there were 10,868 new negatives for a total of 5,101,147.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 22 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, one more than on Wednesday. Two are in intensive care [+1] and two are on ventilators [+2].
Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,645 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 28 since Wednesday, with 474 in intensive care [+12] and 196 on ventilators [-11]. Hospitalizations are at their highest level since mid-May.
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping its total at 230 for the eighth consecutive day.
With 27 new deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 28,158.
An estimated 94% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.
Centre County remains at the substantial level for community transmission of COVID-19 — the second highest on the Centers for Disease Control scale — as of the CDC’s latest county-level data update on Wednesday afternoon. Neighboring Blair, Clearfield and Huntingdon counties are at the highest level, while Clinton, Mifflin and Union are also at substantial.
As of Thursday morning, 78,995 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 6,436 are partially covered. According to the CDC, about 59% of the county’s entire population has received at least one dose.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
