Centre County Adds 37 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,730 New Positives

Centre County reported 37 new COVID-19 on Tuesday to bring its total to 16,726, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 1,730 new positives for a statewide total of 1,188,845.

The county also had 102 negative test results to increase its total to 69,267. Across Pennsylvania, there were 7,708 new negatives for a total of 4,526,726.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 12 COVID-19 inpatients as of Tuesday morning, unchanged from Monday. The patients range in age from 21 to 78, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,427 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of nine since Monday, with 320 in intensive care [-22] and 211 on ventilators [-15].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 222.

With 38 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,871.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Tuesday morning, 63,658 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 15,348 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,248 are confirmed and 1,478 are probable. Statewide, 998,227 are confirmed and 190,618 are probable.
