Centre County Adds 48 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 2,840

Centre County reported 48 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 13,351, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 2,840 positives, bringing the statewide total to 964,296.

The county also had 216 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 62,803. Across Pennsylvania, there were 8,394 new negatives for a total of 3,989,292.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the seventh consecutive day, keeping the total at 213.

With 43 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,573.

According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 14 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, including three in intensive care.

Statewide, 1,442 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 307 in intensive care and 177 on ventilators.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

Centre County’s PCR testing positivity rate for March 5-11 was 4.4%, down from 5.6% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide PCR testing positivity rate was 5.7%, unchanged the previous week.

A total of 31,911 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The total includes 19,430 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 826,084 are confirmed and 138,212 are probable. In Centre County, 12,222 are confirmed and 1,129 are probable.
