Centre County Adds 6 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,430 New Positives

Centre County reported six new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 16,736, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

It’s the fourth time in the past week that the county’s increase has been in the single digits — rates not seen locally since last August.

Pennsylvania added 1,430 new positives for a statewide total of 1,191,532.

The county also had 79 negative test results to increase its total to 69,379. Across Pennsylvania, there were 6,043 new negatives for a total of 4,538,360.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 13 COVID-19 inpatients, unchanged from Wednesday. The patients range in age from 33 to 86, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,309 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 44 since Wednesday, with 310 in intensive care [-6] and 194 on ventilators [-18].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 222.

With 40 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,965.

An estimated 93% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Thursday morning, 65,037 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 14,717 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,254 are confirmed and 1,482 are probable. Statewide, 999,997 are confirmed and 191,535 are probable.
