Centre County Adds 66 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 3,515

Centre County reported 66 new COVID-19 on Tuesday to bring its total to 13,975, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 3,515 positives for a statewide total of 991,950.

The county also had 60 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 63,968. Across Pennsylvania, there were 6,965 new negatives for a total of 4,065,819.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 213.

With 39 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 24,828.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 20 COVID-19 inpatients as of Tuesday morning, one more than on Monday. The patients range in age from 25 to 84.

So far in March, 74 COVID positive patients have been admitted to the medical center, with an average of 16 COVID positive inpatients per day.

“The past two weeks have seen an uptick of COVID-19 cases in our community, and with it, a slow but steady increase in numbers of patients hospitalized due to COVID. We are highly concerned by this trend,” Chief Nursing Officer and Executive Vice President for Patient Care Services Tiffany Cabibbo said in a statement.

Statewide, 1,631 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 341 in intensive care and 185 on ventilators.

An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 38,553 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The total includes 24,221 who are fully covered, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 846,966 are confirmed and 144,984 are probable. In Centre County, 12,741 are confirmed and 1,234 are probable.
