Centre County Adds 67 COVID-19 Cases over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 5,043

Centre County reported 67 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 58 on Sunday and nine on Monday — to bring its total to 16,139, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Monday’s total is the lowest single-day increase for the county since March 9.

Pennsylvania added 5,043 cases — 3,162 on Sunday and 1,881 on Monday — for a statewide total of 1,136,057.

The county also had 128 additional negative test results — 92 on Sunday and 36 on Monday — to increase its total to 67,495. Across Pennsylvania, there were 12,397 new negatives over the two days for a total of 4,355,119.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 35 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 14 since its last update on Friday. The patients range in age from 31 to 93, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 2,495 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 161 since Saturday. The total includes 517 patients in intensive care and 248 on ventilators.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents over the past two days, keeping the local total at 219.

With five new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide on Sunday and none on Monday, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,988.

An estimated 88% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Monday morning, 47,647 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 20,915 are partially covered.

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 957,971 are confirmed and 178,086 are probable. In Centre County, 14,729 are confirmed and 1,410 are probable.
