Centre County Adds 7 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,007 New Positives

Centre County reported seven new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 16,847, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

It marked the fourth time this week the county had a single-digit increase.

Pennsylvania added 1,007 new positives to bring the statewide total to 1,200,543.

The county also had 44 additional negative test results to increase its total to 69,532. Across Pennsylvania, there were 5,171 new negatives for a total of 4,589,058.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 12 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County — unchanged from Thursday — with one in intensive care and on a ventilator.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,107 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 45 since Thursday, with 278 in intensive care [-11] and 162 on ventilators [-10].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 224.

With 24 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,187.

An estimated 94% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Friday morning, 68,359 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 13,332 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.
