Centre County Adds 8 COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death; Pennsylvania Reports 1,127 New Positives

Centre County reported eight new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday to bring its total to 16,832, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 1,127 new positives for a statewide total of 1,198,595.

The county also had 58 additional negative test results to increase its total to 69,450. Across Pennsylvania, there were 5,926 new negatives for a total of 4,575,999.

For the second consecutive day, DOH reported one new death attributed to the virus among Centre County residents. The county’s total is now 224.

With 38 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,123.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 12 COVID-19 inpatients, three fewer than on Tuesday. The patients range in age from 51 to 94, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,172 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 14 since Tuesday, with 295 in intensive care [-5] and 177 on ventilators [-3].

An estimated 94% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Wednesday morning, 67,169 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 13,777 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.
