The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State will showcase percussive music and dance artists with a free outdoor block party at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at the rear loading dock of Eisenhower Auditorium.

The Move Mix Festival will feature traditional Indian and contemporary Latin dance along with modern bhangra music “in an exploration of global sounds united by percussive beats and danceable rhythms,” according to a news release.

Headlining the festival is Red Baraat, a Brooklyn-based ensemble of musicians with South Asian roots with a sound that fuses brass-band jazz, northern Indian bhangra, hip-hop and jazz-jam band aesthetics.

Other performers at the festival include State College’s Ady Martinez and Penn State ensembles Caliente Dance Company and Sher Bhangra.

Admission is free, but registration is required.

Penn State’s Rolling Lion Food Truck will be on site, and attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs.

In case of rain, the festival will be moved inside the auditorium.
