Mount Nittany Health is continuing to expand its footprint in Centre County.

The State College-based health system acquired the property at 2188 Sandy Drive in Ferguson Township on Aug. 1 for $2.3 million, according to county records. The 11-year-old, 9,000-square-foot building on 1 acre was previously home to State College Family Medicine.

“Mount Nittany Health has purchased the property formerly owned by State College Family Medicine and is pleased to welcome their patients to the Mount Nittany Health family,” a Mount Nittany spokesperson wrote in an email.

“We look forward to sharing more about our plans for the location in the future. This acquisition represents another important investment in the community and reflects our ongoing commitment to providing access to high-quality healthcare.”

State College Family Medicine recently closed when its owners and providers, Drs. Brian and Chastity McCleary, moved out of the area. Mount Nittany Health wrote in a Facebook post on Aug. 7 that the system is “excited to welcome” the McClearys’ patients and that “we’re here to ensure your care continues seamlessly and with the same compassion and excellence you’ve come to know.”

The acquisition marks another step in Mount Nittany Health’s ongoing growth in the region.

In 2024, the health system completed a new $90 million, 125,000-square-foot outpatient center at Toftrees and opened its first urgent care walk-in clinic in the Hills Plaza.

Work on its largest recent investment continues at the medical center, where a $350 million, 10-story patient tower is under construction and expected to open in late 2026. Other major recent projects at the hospital have included a new $9 million clinical laboratory completed in 2023 and a multi-phase renovation of the diagnostic pavilion completed earlier this year.

Mount Nittany acquired a 15.71-acre parcel on Rishel Hill Road near Benner Pike in Bellefonte for $6.284 million in December, though it has not disclosed plans for the site. It also purchased the office building property at 1700 Old Gatesburg Road in Ferguson Township — where Mount Nittany has primary care, imaging and lab services — for $15.1 million in July 2024.
