A New York City woman died after a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 80 in Marion Township, according to state police at Rockview.
Julie M. Volk was traveling westbound at about 2:50 a.m. near mile marker 163.1 when she began to lose control of her vehicle. The 37-year-old abruptly moved to the left lane, overcorrected to the right, then weaved between the lanes two more times, police wrote.
She was unable to regain control of the vehicle, which police did not describe, and it landed on its side, sliding for about 220 feet before coming to rest.
Volk died at the scene.
An investigation driver determined fatigue was the likely cause of the crash, according to police.
A passenger in the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
