Pennsylvania hunting licenses for the 2024-25 season will go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday, June 24, and Centre County Treasurer Colleen Kennedy reminded residents that they will be available for purchase at her office in the Willowbank Building in Bellefonte and other outlets around the county, as well as online.
Hunting license prices remain unchanged from last year. General hunting licenses and furtaker licenses are $20.97 for Pennsylvania residents and $101.97 for nonresidents. Antlerless deer licenses are $6.97 each for residents and $26.97 each for nonresidents. Renewing a lifetime hunting licenses is free.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has made a change to antlerless deer hunting license sales for this year to alleviate the strain experienced in 2023 on the state’s HuntFishPA online purchasing system. Beginning at 8 a.m. on June 24, only licenses for wildlife management units 1B, 2G, and 3A will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Management unit 1B is in the northwest corner of the Commonwealth, while 2G and 3A are in north-central Pennsylvania, including northern Centre County.
Remaining management units will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 27. Residents are guaranteed one antlerless license for these areas, Kennedy said, but they must be purchased before 7 a.m. on July 8, an hour before nonresident licenses go on sale.
The second round of antlerless license sales begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 22, and the third round at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12. Hunters can purchase a personal limit of one antlerless license in each of the first three rounds. During round four, beginning Aug. 22, hunters can apply for up to three additional antlerless licenses for a maximum total personal limit of six.
Deer Management Assistance Program permits will go on sale on Aug. 12.
Kennedy reminded residents that although licenses are now available for purchase online and from hunting license agents, they also remain available through county treasurers’ offices.
“Last year’s announcements from the Game Commission implied that Treasurers’ offices were no longer selling doe licenses, but that’s not the case,” Kennedy said. “My staff and I ready to help our local hunters get any license they might need. The office will open early at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 24, and Thursday, June 27. I encourage hunters to shop local and get their licenses from my office or from our locally owned businesses, instead of the big box stores, in order to keep that money in our community.”
Certain licenses, such as those for disabled veterans, are only available through the Treasurer’s Office. Disabled veterans and active duty military personnel are guaranteed one antlerless license in the management unit of their choice.
