4-Star Offensive Lineman Commits to Penn State

Penn State has added another top offensive lineman to its 2019 recruiting class, picking up a commitment on Monday afternoon from Smyrna, Del. guard Saleem Wormley.

The 6-foot-3, 318-pound Wormley is considered the top prospect in Delaware for the current recruiting cycle and is rated the No. 13 offensive guard prospect in the nation by 247 Sports.

Wormley received an offer from the Nittany Lions during an unofficial visit in March and made a return trip to University Park for the Blue-White Game in April. He picked Penn State over Rutgers and Notre Dame, both of which he visited in June

With the addition of Wormley, Coach James Franklin’s staff now has commitments from two of the nation’s top 15 guard prospects. Offensive lineman Caedan Wallace, rated the No. 4 guard in the nation and No. 96 recruit overall by 247, committed to Penn State in April.

Special teams coordinator Phil Galiano and offensive line coach Matt Limegrover led the recruitment of Wormley for Penn State.

Rivals.com recruiting analyst Adam Friedman wrote that once Wormley adds some strength he should be a ‘key figure’ on the Penn State line.

‘…Wormley is very far along in his development when it comes to his technique,’ Friedman wrote. ‘He does a great job with his initial punch and resetting his hands as he slides to stay in front of the defensive lineman.’

Penn State now has 12 commitments for its 2019 recruiting class, which is rated No. 17 nationally by 247 and No. 16 by Rivals.
