The Centre Region Active Adult Center will reopen on a limited basis starting next week after being closed for much of the past year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Agency staff have been following Governor Wolf’s re-opening plans along with consulting the state and county offices of aging on opening guidelines as mitigation efforts are being slowly lifted, and as the county-wide vaccination program continues to move forward,” a statement from Centre Region Parks and Recreation said.

The center, located in the Nittany Mall, will be open on Wednesday, March 24 and March 31. Beginning April 7, it will be open Wednesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be for in-person activities at the center and Fridays will be for outings to other locations locally and regionally.

Participation will be by reservation only — no walk-ins will be permitted — and the center will have a maximum occupancy of 25, based on state and local guidelines and regulations.

Current participants will be contacted about the reopening and will be able to make reservations by phone at 814-231-3076. New participants who wish to register with the center should call to schedule an appointment to meet with staff and complete paperwork.

Centre County van transportation will be available for participants who have first scheduled a reservation at the center.

A COVID-19 safety plan will be in place at the center and participants are encouraged to review it here to know what to expect upon arrival.
