United States Senator Al Franken will be in State College on Friday for a phone banking event where he will talk to local voters and answer questions.

Franken, a member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, will be speaking to State College residents from 5-9 p.m. on behalf of the Clinton campaign. The event will take place at the PA Democratic Coordinated Campaign Office at 112 W. Foster Ave, Suite 2.

Franken traded a successful career in the entertainment industry — notably as a longtime writer for ‘Saturday Night Live’ — for political activism, which culminated in his election to the Senate representing Minnesota in 2008 and his re-election in 2014.

He has served on the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, the Committee on Indian Affairs, and the Committee on the Judiciary.
