Amy Farkas to Be Named New Patton Township Manager

A familiar face in Centre Region government will be the next top administrator for Patton Township.

Longtime Harris Township Manager Amy Farkas will be appointed Patton Township manager at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, according to a news release and the meeting agenda. She will succeed Doug Erickson, who is retiring in mid-May after a 25-year career with Patton Township.

Farkas, who holds a master’s degree in public administration from Penn State Harrisburg, has been Harris Township manager since 2005. She serves on the board of the Pennsylvania Municipal League and is a past president of the Association for Pennsylvania Municipal Management.

Supervisors in September engaged GovHR, a public service executive recruitment firm, to assist with the search and selection of a new manager after Erickson announced his plans to retire.

As Patton Township manager, Farkas will implement the policies of the board while overseeing day-to-day operations of a municipality with a $12 million annual budget and 50 employees in police, public works, administration and finance and engineering, planning and zoning departments.

She is expected to begin in the new role on May 8. According to the employment agreement included with Wednesday’s agenda, Farkas will be paid a base salary of $125,000 a year.

Erickson told StateCollege.com that in retirement he has “no plans other than to relax and not work.”
