Community members opposed to the proposed landfill in Rush Township are holding a meeting about the project from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on January 20 at Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen Street.
The group leading the meeting, People Protecting Communities, plan to include speakers, live music, and a DVD presentation during free the event. Free parking and light refreshments will be available.
The movement against the landfill is in response to the application submitted by Lancaster County-based company Resource Recovery to the Department of Environmental Protection, hoping to build a municipal waste landfill in the northern corner of Rush Township.
Another landfill application was also submitted for an area in Boggs Township, Clearfield County.
