Earlier today, police apprehended the suspect caught on tape assaulting a woman as she entered an East College Avenue apartment.

After asking for the public’s help in identifying the man, police received a tip from an employee of Sharkie’s bar late last night saying he had seen the man in the photos walking with a woman who was wearing bunny ears.  Two officers located the couple at Calder Commons, and identified the man as David W. Cassada.

Officers returned with Cassada to his apartment and discovered a white Miller High Life T-shirt and beige or off-white frayed blanket, both identifiable objects in the surveillance photos.

Cassada told police he was trying to scare a friend.

Cassada, of 472 E. College Ave, Apt. A14, was arraigned before District Judge Jonathan Grine on charges of simple assault, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.  He was sent to Centre County jail in lieu of $200,000 straight bail and ordered that, if released, he have no contact with the victim.

Cassada’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 8.
