The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will begin its reduced summer service schedule for all bus routes on May 9. Full service will resume Aug. 20.
During reduced service, the NE, NV, RC, RP, UT, VE, VN and WE routes, as well as the White Loop and the Green Link buses on the University Park campus, do not operate during reduced service.
Shaded trips on the schedule for the M Route will not operate during the summer. The Blue Loop on the University Park campus operates Monday through Friday only, and the Red Link, also on campus, operates Monday through Saturday.
No bus or CATARide services will operate on Memorial Day (May 30) or Independence Day (July 4). The CATA customer service center, 108 E. Beaver Ave., also will be closed those days as well as May 28 and July 2.

Youth Pass Discount Expands
CATA also announced it will expand youth pass discount to all riders under the age of 18 and over 40 inches tall (children under 40 inches ride free) effective June 1. The current discount had been available only to middle and high school students.
Anyone under 18 and with proper identification will be able to purchase a CATA OnePass for $23, discounted from the regular cost of $69. Passes can be purchased in increments of one month to one year and can be used on any CATA route.
“The expansion of the existing discount for local middle and high school students to all riders under the age of 18 provides not only deeply discounted transportation for the area’s full youth population, but also a great way to expose children and young adults to alternative transportation,” said CATA Public Relations Manager, Jacqueline Sheader. “The goal of the discount is to enhance opportunities to this group by providing them with inexpensive travel to access school, employment, recreational facilities, area libraries, retail facilities, and much more.”
To qualify for the discounted pass, riders must present either a valid middle or high school identification card or a statement signed by a parent, available on the CATA website, to verify age. Passes are available for purchase at CATA’s Customer Service Center during regular business hours.
