An iPhone application that carries Centre Area Transportation Authority bus routes and tracks in-service buses isn’t working today, CATA confirmed.
The app will resume working, according to the transit agency, though exactly when was not immediately clear. CATA spokesman Jacqueline Sheader said the problem involves an update to the app that needs to be accepted and released through iTunes.
That process is ‘taking longer than anticipated,’ she wrote in an e-mail message. ‘As soon as that process is complete, the app will be up and working.’
Meanwhile, CATA’s Android app is working, Sheader noted. So is its real-time website, http://realtime.catabus.com, which may be accessed via mobile devices’ Web browsers.
Sheader said the problem with the iPhone app emerged Saturday, when the transit agency switched from its summer-season reduced-service schedule to its full-service schedule.
That issue aside, she said that CATA services ‘are running pretty smoothly’ Monday as Penn State University Park classes resume for the fall semester.
