CATA to Introduce Several Changes With Start of Fall Service Schedule

The Centre Area Transportation Authority’s full fall service schedule will go into effect on Monday, Aug. 17, and a few changes will come along with it.

• Additional White Loop service on the Penn State campus and downtown State College will be available Monday through Thursday during full service, with buses arriving as often as every 5 minutes from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Red Link will no longer operate on weekends, and Blue Loop service will be reduced on Sunday.

• CATA will operate on Labor Day, Sept. 7 on the reduced service schedule. The system previously did not operate on the holiday.

• The H (Toftrees) route will return to a 40-minute frequency. Service at Mount Nittany Health Toftrees will fully shift to the CATA Go microtransit service as part of previously announced new transportation options to Mount Nittany facilities.

• The NV route will follow Bigler Road, Pollock Road and Shortlidge Road on the Penn State campus, and will no longer follow University Drive. CATA says the change will provide better coverage.

• The CC route (College Avenue Connector) will provide direct service to the Happy Valley Casino as a pilot. The E Mall Entrance stop (1012) will be discontinued and the ALDI Stop (32) will be moved.

• The RC route (Waupelani Drive/Campus) will no longer be available outbound from campus before 10:30 a.m., a change aimed at improving service reliability in the Waupelani Drive/South Atherton Street area. Riders can use the R route instead. Inbound services will not be affected.

• Increased Red Link trips on campus will be available Monday and Tuesday during Penn State’s finals weeks in December, along with additional service on key community corridors to meet higher demand.
