Centre County Adds 1 New COVID-19 Case

Centre County added one new case of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing its total to 197 since the first was reported on March 20.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, a total of 3,871 people in Centre County have tested negative for the virus, an increase of 143 since Wednesday. 

In the past two weeks, the county has added 39 COVID-19 cases.

The health department estimates that 78 percent of all COVID-19 patients in Pennsylvania — or about 65,341 — have recovered.

Statewide, 579 new positives were reported on Thursday, increasing Pennsylvania’s total to 83,770. A total of 621,031 patients have tested negative.

The health department also reported 39 new deaths attributed to the virus, bringing Pennsylvania’s total to 6,557. 

Across the state, 703 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 133 requiring use of a ventilator as of noon on Thursday. 

Among the state’s total cases, 81,374 are confirmed and 2,396 are probable. In Centre County, 183 are confirmed and 14 are probable.

16865 (Pennsylvania Furnace), 16828 (Centre Hall), 16829 (Clarence), 16866 (Philipsburg), 16844 (Julian), 16875 (Spring Mills), 16852 (Madisonburg), 16872 (Rebersburg), 16845 (Karthaus) each have 1-4 confirmed cases. Specific numbers are not provided for zip codes with fewer than five cases. 

Nursing home cases in Centre County remained unchanged, with 23 among residents and 14 among staff at two facilities.

Among Centre County’s bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 242 total cases, Union has 89, Clinton has 74, Clearfield has 71, Blair has 69 and Mifflin has 61.
