A horrific sex assault case ends with a Centre County man convicted of raping several children.
A jury convicted Joseph Bailey Sr., 32, of Fleming, on 33 charges, including, rape of a child, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child, corruption of minors and furnishing liquor to minors.
StateCollege.com is withholding details about the crimes to protect the victims’ identities.
Prosecutors say Bailey inflicted a “reign of terror” beginning in 2008 and lasting until 2012.
According to authorities, Bailey raped a nine-year-old child at a State College apartment in 2008.
In 2011, Bailey reportedly fed children alcohol until they passed out at a home in Howard. A 12-year-old woke up dressed in her underwear. Prosecutors say Bailey also repeatedly assaulted another child.
In a statement, Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller applauded the courage of the victims who testified in court. “These victims were subjected to terrorization by a cowardly and vicious man … This verdict will never erase what he did to the victims, but I hope the verdict will help place their destiny back into their hands, where it belongs.”
Bailey is scheduled for sentencing on July 15.
