Centre Foundation has awarded $158,000 in grants to 41 local nonprofits in phase two of its COVID-19 ACTION Fund to assist organizations facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grants will support the nonprofits’ organizational and programmatic needs as they continue to provide services throughout the pandemic.
Originally, $150,000 was allocated for phase two funding, but a further $8,500 in contributions from the community was added to the total funds available.
“It is our hope that this additional funding assists the local organizations working to serve our community despite the challenging addition of financial hardship due to COVID-19,” Molly Kunkel, Centre Foundation executive director, said in a statement. “For many, the programs and services provided by the nonprofit community are a lifeline. We can’t let that work go interrupted.”
The fund was established in April with $375,000, including $125,000 from the Centre Foundation Community Impact Fund and $250,000 from the Knight Foundation’s donor-advised fund.
In June, the foundation award first round grants totaling $100,000 to 14 organizations that support health and human services needs.
The second round of grants were open to any nonprofit serving Centre County residents and not limited to health or human services organizations.
Phase three funding will total $125,000 will provide support for strategic planning for nonprofits as they face changing needs in the community as a result of COVD-19. Applications will be made available later this year.
