The ACRES Project is a State College nonprofit working to foster independence, self-advocacy, social opportunities and work/life skills for youth and adults with autism. It relies almost entirely on community support to offer its programming at low or no cost to participants.
With traditional fundraisers canceled this year due to the pandemic, the ACRES Project invites the community to participate in a Halloween-themed virtual 5K fundraiser, the ACRES Halloween Hustle.
Registration is open now at www.runsignup.com/acreshalloweenhustle and includes a free race t-shirt. Corporate sponsorships are also available.
As a virtual ‘fun run’ event, participants may run or walk the 5K at any time or place of their choosing between Oct. 24 and Nov. 1. In keeping with the Halloween theme, runners are encouraged to wear a costume during their run and upload photos to a virtual costume contest hosted on the race website. Photos may also be posted on social media using the hashtag #acreshalloweenhustle. Real prizes will be awarded to winners of the costume contest, and there will also be rewards for fundraising.
The ACRES Project would like to thank RT Contracting, W.R. Hickey Beer Distributor, PBCI-Allen Mechanical & Electrical, M2 Training Center, and DRSMK Wealth Management Group for sponsoring the Halloween Hustle, and hopes to see runners of all ages having fun and getting active for a great cause during this special Halloween season.
With our community facing numerous challenges because of the coronavirus pandemic, StateCollege.com is inviting any Centre County business, nonprofit organization or agency to share their stories in briefs which we will publish at no charge. Share what you’d like the community to know — what services you’re offering, challenges you’re facing, what you’ve brought to the area over the years or anything else. More details here.
