Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, and Lt. Gov. Mike Stack will co-host a ‘Pathways to Pardons’ event next week in State College.
Stack, who chairs the state’s Board of Pardons, will join Conklin and others to discuss the process for obtaining a pardon or expungement of a past criminal conviction in Pennsylvania. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the State College Municipal Building.
The discussion is open to the public and will include a question-and-answer session.
The “Pathways to Pardons” program was created by Stack to bring together experts in various fields — including corrections, drug and alcohol treatment, probation and parole, and public interest law — to develop step-by-step help for people to clear minor criminal convictions from their records that are a barrier to employment.
‘Conklin understands the need to remove such impediments for those who may have made a mistake, paid for it and now wish to obtain gainful employment,’ a news release said.
