At last night’s Borough Council Work Session, council members discussed the Conditional Use Request submitted by State College Area School District that would reduce the required parking spaces at the new high school north building site by 40 percent.
Though the council could not vote to pass the application, they discussed the information that had been provided at the recent closed hearing, answering the necessary questions. The members agreed to draw up a legal statement documenting their approval to be read at the next meeting, making the parking reduction official.
The Council were also presented with a tentative 2007 budget last night, calling for no change in local tax rates. The earned-income rate would remain at the current 1.3 percent, and real-estate tax would stay steady at its current rate of approximately 10 mills.
The Council did not discuss the proposed budget at last night’s work session, but will receive a formal presentation regarding the numbers at a work session scheduled for noon on Friday.
