With cold temperatures and rain in the forecast, Centre Region Parks and Recreation’s 71st annual Halloween Costume Parade on Sunday will be moved indoors.

The parade portion will not be held, but costume judging and candy distribution will take place in the State College Area High School North Building’s main gymnasium.

Lineup for costume categories will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, with costume judging to take place at 7 p.m. Attendees should park in the North Building parking lot and enter the building near the natatorium entrance. CRPR volunteers will be on hand to guide people to the correct entrance and queuing area.

“We certainly hope that everyone will still plan to attend even though the parade portion is not happening this year, CRPR director Pam Salokangas said. ‘We don’t want people to be soaked and cold as the predicted winds could chill everyone to the bone.”

Salokangas added that other alternatives were evaluated, including a rain date, but it was determined moving the event indoors was the best option for participants, judges, volunteers and staff.

The event is free to attend and candy and prizes are being provided by the State College Lions Club.

Costume categories include:

Tiny Tots (ages 2 and under)
Social Media & Apps
Cartoons & Superheros
Witches and Monsters
Fairy Tale Characters
Zombies & Vampires
Animals on Parade
TV/Movie Characters
Sports
Groups (3 or more people)
