Nine iPads seized during an arrest by Pennsylvania State Police earlier this year have been donated to help local youth.
The iPads were forfeited during a stop-and-arrest on May 3 and turned over to the Centre County District Attorney’s Office, which recently donated them to the Centre County Youth Service Bureau.
YSB will use the iPads at their youth centers for kids to do homework, and to provide technology for independent-living youth.
‘We greatly appreciate the generosity of the District Attorney’s Office in donating brand new iPads,’ said Denise McCann, YSB associate director. ‘These iPads will be used in supervised settings to give our youth opportunities that can improve academic and social skills and give them the same access to technology that their classmates have.’
In 2018, YSB marked 50 years of providing services to young people in Centre County, and DA Bernie Cantorna said his office is happy to help support its mission.
‘It is a rewarding part of my job to be able to give back to the community,’ Cantorna said. ‘The children at the Youth Service Bureau are deserving, particularly at this time of year… It is a win-win for law enforcement and our community when we can get computers that have been forfeited, into the hands of our children.”
