Though recent news reports say a new Penn State president will be chosen Friday, the process now appears to be up in the air.
Tuesday night, the university confirmed that the Penn State Board of Trustees would meet Friday to discuss “personnel matters.” Less than 24 hours later, that meeting has been put off, according to Penn State spokesperson Annemarie Mountz.
“The meeting has been delayed indefinitely to allow for further consideration on the matter,” Mountz says.
However, The board will have an executive session Friday, which will not be open to the public.
Mountz tells StateCollege.com she could not comment any further on the matter.
Current President Rodney Erickson has said that he intends to retire in June 2014. Erickson took over after Graham Spanier was ousted as president in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal. A Presidential Search Committee comprised of 12 trustees has been searching for the 18th president of the university since last year.
