Motorists will encounter detours during upcoming bridge repair work on U.S. Route 322 in Harris Township, according to PennDOT.

Work will take place Monday and Tuesday on a bridge spanning Route 45, about 3 miles southeast of State College.

PennDOT’s Centre County Maintenance Organization will complete repairs on the eastbound lane (heading toward Potters Mills) on Monday, the department wrote in a news release this week. During that time, eastbound traffic will take the Old Fort exit then follow Route 45 and Boal Avenue back to Route 322. Westbound traffic (headed toward State College) on Monday will remain on 322.

Work on the westbound lane will take place on Tuesday, according to PennDOT. Westbound traffic will be detoured at the Boalsburg/Atherton Street exit, then will follow Boal Avenue and Route 45 back to Route 322. Eastbound traffic on Tuesday will remain on 322.

The project involves repairs to concrete, railing and installation of safety delineators.

“This work will improve ride quality over the bridge, extend its service life and enhance safety for motorists,” PennDOT wrote.
