Another new donut shop is coming to State College.
Duck Donuts announced on Facebook that it is planning to open a location at 125 S. Fraser St., in the ‘mini-mall’ next to the Fraser Street Parking Garage. The storefront was last occupied by Mr. Tux, which closed in 2015.
Founded in Duck, N.C., in 2006, Duck Donuts has franchise locations throughout the southeast and Mid-Atlantic. In Pennsylvania it currently has shops in Pittsburgh, Hershey, Mechanicsburg, Lancaster and King of Prussia.
The company specializes in ‘warm, fresh, made-to-order donuts,’ and a selection of coffees, according to its website. It also offers breakfast sandwiches and ice cream sundaes.
An opening date has not yet been announced.
Duck Donuts is the latest donut shop to announce a new location in State College. Pittsburgh-based Peace, Love and Little Donuts will open soon at 421 East Calder Way and is currently hiring.
A new Dunkin’ Donuts is being built at 1400 N. Atherton St. in Ferguson Township, in conjunction with a Weis Gas ‘n’ Go station. That store will be 2,539 square feet and have a drive-through. Another new, 2,279 square-foot Dunkin’ Donuts is planned for just off of Benner Pike in Benner Township.
Those Dunkin’ Donuts will join the ones already in operation on East College Avenue, West College Avenue and South Atherton Street.
