Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in damage to a downtown State College storefront on Wednesday morning, according to police.
At about 11:45 a.m., a male driver was traveling eastbound on the 100 block of West Beaver Avenue when he lost control of his SUV and struck two other cars, State College police Lt. Greg Brauser said. The SUV then veered off the road and crashed against Kitchen Kaboodle, 104 W. Beaver Ave., damaging a display window.
The driver of the SUV was suspected of driving under the influence and taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a blood test. Charges are pending the results, Brauser said. No injuries were reported.
A sign on the door said Kitchen Kaboodle was closed for the remainder of Wednesday.
One lane of traffic was closed until about 12:30 p.m. while the scene was cleared.
Centre LifeLink EMS, Alpha Fire Company, Centre Region Code Administration and Tennis Towing also responded to the scene.
