While you may see a number of emergency vehicles around Beaver Stadium the next few days, it isn’t a cause for alarm.

A training exercise for police and emergency responders will be taking place at the stadium Tuesday through Friday. The exercise will be contained to the stadium and should not impact the rest of campus, according to a news release.

The exercise is organized by the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Civil Support Team and hosted by Penn State Police and Public Safety.

‘… [T]he purpose of the exercise is for the Civil Support Team and law enforcement bomb squads from throughout Pennsylvania, including the Hazardous Devices Team with Penn State University Police and Public Safety, to train together in preparation for a potential incident,’ the news release said.

The Civil Support Team assists first responders with detection and mitigation of weapons that could cause widespread harm.
