It’s time for some scares and some fun around the area, with events and activities throughout the weekend to celebrate Halloween.
Trick-or-Treat Night in the Centre Region is officially on Halloween (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. But before that kids and adults can enjoy haunted houses, special trick-or-treat activities at various locations, parties, train rides, shows and more.

Forensic Science Club Haunted House
An annual tradition, Penn State’s Forensic Science Club will once again create a themed haunted house at the Pine and Spruce cottages at University Park. This year’s theme is ‘Nuclear Fallout.’
When: 8-11 p.m. Thursday; 8 p.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday
Where: Pine and Spruce cottages, University Park
Cost: $4.99 per person to experience both cottages
The Rocky Horror Show
Love & Light Productions will stage the cult-classic rock musical ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ for three nights at The State Theatre. Individual and group costume contests will be held, and audience participation is encouraged, though no props are allowed. Must be 18 or older and ID is required.
When: 8 p.m. Thursday; 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday; 8 p.m. Saturday
Where: The State Theatre
Cost: $20 + $2.50 ticketing fee.
Halloween Train Rides
The Bellefonte Historical Railroad will operate three Halloween train rides on Friday. The one-hour excursions travel from Bellefonte to Axemann, with characters giving out candy on the train. Fall foliage trips also will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
When: 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday
Where: Trips depart from the Bellefonte Railroad Passenger Station at Talleyrand Park
Cost: $10 + $1.53 ticketing fee
Bellefonte Halloween Party
Penn State recreation, parks and tourism management students host the annual Halloween Party at the Bellefonte YMCA on Friday. Free and open to the community.
When: 6-8 p.m. on Friday
Where: Bellefonte YMCA, 125 W. High St.
Cost: Free
Haunted Camp Anderson
Take a trip down I-99 to Tyrone and Camp Anderson for a haunted house that goes through two buildings, a trail through haunted woods, a bonfire at camp and a haunted hay ride.
When: Opens at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday
Where: Take I-99 to the Bald Eagle exit, turn left at intersection light and continue until you see the lights at Smith Transport. You will be taken to and from Camp Anderson on the free shuttle bus.
Cost: $7 per person
Spook Haven
One of Central Pennsylvania’s premier haunted attractions, Spook Haven in Mill Hall has multiple experiences to try. Saturday night will have an ‘Intensity Hour’ and special entertainment.
When: 7-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday
Where: 100 Danis Street, Mill Hall, PA, 17751
Cost: Admission ranges from $13 to $32.
Philipsburg Harvest Festival and Parade
Downtown Philipsburg will host its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday with vendors, food, entertainment and a Halloween parade.
When: Vendors open at 11 a.m. and the parade kicks off at noon, followed by trick-or-treating.
Where: Downtown Philipsburg
Cost: No admission fee and parade and trick-or-treating are free.
Bellefonte Halloween Parade
The Bellefonte Halloween Parade will be held on Saturday afternoon, followed by costume judging and prizes and trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses.
When: The parade forms at 12:30 p.m. at Bellefonte Elementary School and steps off at 1 p.m., ending at the Centre County Courthouse at 1:30 p.m. for costume judging and prizes. Trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses will take place from 2-4 p.m.
Where: Parade starts at Bellefonte Elementary, corner of North Allegheny Street and West Linn Street, then travels south on Allegheny to the Courthouse.

Pennsylvania Furnace Community Halloween Party
Baileyville Community Hall will host the Pennsylvani Furnace Community Halloween Party, for families with toddlers and elementary school kids, on Saturday, with games, prizes and refreshments by Baileyville Grange and treats by Fairbrook UMC.
When: 4-6 p.m. Saturday
Where: Baileyville Community Hall, 210 Deibler Road, Pennsylvania Furnace
Cost: Free
Nittany Mall Trick-or-Treat
Nittany Mall will hold its annual safe trick-or-treat night on Saturday, with a costume contest and Zombie Ball.
When: Saturday — Trick-or-treat 6-8 p.m.; Costume contest beginning at 6 p.m; Zombie Ball in the Dunham Sports court from 7-9 p.m.
Where: Nittany Mall, 2901 E. College Ave.
Cost: Free
Halloween Par-Tee
Penn State RPTM students and the Penn State Golf Courses will hold a Halloween event for kids 12 and under on Sunday, with festive golf and non-golf activities. Register online here.

Trick-or-Treat at the All-Sports Museum
Penn State All-Sports Museum’s 9th annual trick-or-treat event is Sunday afternoon, with student-athletes giving out candy, games, prizes and refreshments. Museum members will be able to go to the front of the line.
When: 2-4 p.m. Sunday
Where: Penn State All-Sports Museum at Beaver Stadium
Cost: Free, though donations are welcome.
Safe & Seen in the Ballpark
The State College Spikes and Centre LifeLink EMS host the annual trick-or-treat event at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Sunday. Wear your costume and enjoy fun and games with local nonprofits
When: 3-5 p.m. Sunday
Where: Medlar Field at Lubrano Park
Cost: Free, with donations to Centre LifeLink optional
Greek or Treat
Penn State Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council host their trick-or-treat event on Sunday, with candy, games and more on Fraternity Row.
When: 4-8 p.m. Sunday

Trunk or Treat
Open to all ages, come in costume or as you are for State College Assembly of God’s Trunk or Treat on Sunday. The parking lot will be filled with decorated cars and children going from trunk to trunk to collect candy and treats. Also enjoy hayrides, a firetruck, inflatables for kids, food and more.
When: 5-7 p.m. Sunday

Trinity Bellefonte Halloween Party
Trinity Bellefonte UMC will have a Halloween Party on Sunday, featuring costume judging and prizes, supervised games for kids, Halloween activities, pinatas food, candy, treats and much more.

Annual Halloween Parade
UPDATE: The Centre Region Parks and Rec parade has been moved indoors to the State College Area High School North Building due to forecasted rain and cold temperatures.
Centre Region Parks and Rec hosts the 71st annual Halloween Parade in State College on Sunday night, with costume judging and prizes in categories including:

When: The parade portion has been canceled, but lineup for costume categories will begin at 6:30 p.m. and costume judging at 7 p.m. Candy will still be distributed
Where: The event will now be held in the main gymnasium of the State High North Building. Attendees should park in the North Building lot and enter near the natatorium entrance.

Trick-or-Treat Night
The Centre Region Council of Governments has designated 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 as Trick-or-Treat Night in State College, Ferguson Township, Patton Township, Harris Township and College Township. Trick-or-treat hours in Halfmoon Township are 5:30-8:30 p.m.
