You may want to avoid University Drive for the next few weeks. PennDot is warning drivers to expect restrictions in the southbound lanes beginning next Monday, June 3.

This is happening because of construction work on a section of University Drive, stretching from Curtin Road to Dauer Drive. That’s roughly a one block area.

Lane restrictions on the southbound side are expected to last the entire month of June. The northbound lanes of University Drive will be unaffected.

While construction is underway short traffic delays are possible in the area. You may want to give yourself some extra time or consider using an alternative route.

Workers need the lane restrictions so they can install curbs and sidewalks as part of the Pegula Ice Arena construction project. The $102 million dollar ice arena is expected to open in time for the 2013-2014 hockey season.
