Ferguson Township is inviting residents to participate in a community engagement process aimed at reviewing and potentially updating several ordinances related to essential public services.
The township’s Board of Supervisors is reviewing current practices for funding and maintaining public street lighting, fire hydrant operations and oak wilt disease prevention.
“To better serve residents, the Board is considering repealing or amending the ordinances associated with these services,” according to a township news release.
Public open house sessions will be held to learn more and talk with township officials at 6 p.m. on Sept. 18 and noon Sept. 25. at the Ferguson Township Municipal Building, 3147 Research Drive. A virtual attendance option is also available through the township website.
Residents can also complete an Ordinance Assessment Survey, which is open through Sept. 26. The survey seeks feedback on fairness, funding approaches and the perceived community benefit of the existing ordinances.
Final staff recommendations and a summary of community feedback will be presented at a Board of Supervisors meeting in October.
