Dense fog is to blame for a multi-vehicle crash that shut down part of Interstate 99 in Centre County on Wednesday morning, according to state police at Rockview.

The crash happened at about 10:15 a.m. around mile marker 78 near the Bellefonte exit of I-99 northbound in Benner Township. “Multiple vehicles struck one another” when the fog created “limited to no visibility,” police wrote in a public information report.

Minor injuries were reported.

I-99 in the area of the crash reopened by 12:25 p.m.

In addition to state police, Logan, Undine and Alpha fire companies, Bellefonte and Centre LifeLink EMS and Rees, Gray’s, S&R and Halfmoon Valley towing companies assisted at the scene.
