This Sunday, April 13, the Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run for Special Olympics Pennsylvania will return to Penn State for a fifth consecutive year.
A Blue White Weekend tradition, proceeds from the run will benefit the 2014 Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games set to take place in June at Penn State.
Franco Harris will officially kick off the three mile race and students, community members, and Special Olympics athletes alike will follow. For those who aren’t interested in running, walking, or jogging three miles, a one mile Family Fun Walk is also offered.
Two Special Olympics PA athletes, Greg Focht and Matt Prosek, are especially excited for Sunday’s race, as they’ve been working hard to prepare. Check out this heartwarming clip of the two local athletes gearing up for the route through Penn State’s campus. Focht hopes to beat his personal record of 38:18 from his race last year with Prosek by his side.
