The Fraser Street Parking Garage will close the night of May 13 for the removal of the crane at the Fraser Centre construction site.
Starting at 11:59 p.m. on May 13, vehicles will be prohibited from entering the parking deck and gates will only allow vehicles to exit. Any vehicles parked in the garage will need to be moved by 5 p.m. on May 14. Remaining vehicles after that time will be towed to the Beaver Avenue Garage and the borough Parking Department will place a boot on the vehicle.
Vehicle owners will be charged for the cost of towing, but will not be charged storage fees and other charges normally associated with towing a vehicle from downtown State College, according to a news release from the Parking Department.
After the garage closes on May 13, flyers will be placed on remaining vehicles notifying patrons that they will be towed if they do not move by the 5 p.m. deadline. If the Parking Department has contact information for the vehicle owners, they will also be notified by email and phone.
The garage is scheduled to partially re-open on May 23, and it is expected to re-open at full capacity by June 30.
